Thermal transfer printers use a thermal print-head to apply information directly to a wax or resin-based ribbon layered onto the substrate. The ribbon ink is then pressed and absorbed into the label media, creating the imprint. Thermal transfer printers create a final product that is much more durable and will stand up to heat, water, light, or chemicals for longer-term usage. They are also substantially proven to reduce fading.
